How to choose flexible duct fabric

Define what you are buying

Fabric, coated fabric and a complete duct are different purchasing items. A finished duct also includes reinforcement, seams, end fixings and connectors. Specify the required scope of supply.

Coating and lamination are different processes. HM270 is not a laminated composite fabric. The SGS specimen was polyester Oxford fabric with an FR PU coating; “100% polyester” alone does not describe the surface treatment.

Confirm the operating conditions

Is the duct for air supply or exhaust? State airflow, positive or negative pressure, diameter and length.

Give continuous and short-term operating temperatures, indoor or outdoor exposure, humidity, abrasion and chemical contact. Include dragging or repeated folding where relevant.

Confirm reinforcement, seams, connectors and bending requirements with the duct manufacturer. The 600D × 600D yarn specification alone does not establish abrasion resistance, pressure capability or suitability of the assembly.

Read the HM270 specification and test report

The listed HM270 fabric is 100% polyester, 600D × 600D, grey, 300 g/m². The black 324 g/m² fabric is a different-weight version of the same product. Confirm the actual delivery specification before ordering.

SGS report AJFTS26007761R01_EN tested a black 324 g/m² specimen at 0.50 mm thickness to UL 94-2024 clause 11, with a VTM-0 result. The applicant is our export agent, SHANGHAI SHUN YUAN XING TEXTILE PTY, LTD, not Huamao.

Check the applicant, sample description, colour, weight, thickness, method and result together. The result applies to the tested specimen, not automatically to grey 300 g/m² fabric, other colours or a complete duct system.

What to include in your enquiry

Use and equipment: supply or exhaust, diameter, length, airflow, pressure and temperature.

Fabric and processing: colour reference, weight, slit width, roll length and packing.

Order and acceptance: quantity, delivery timing, specified test standards and acceptance requirements.

Agree the physical sample and order specification before arranging bulk supply.
